Community Considerations & Potential Delivery Partners

Saltburn Town Partnership

SCAA is working closely with the new Town Partnership established by RCBC earlier this year. SCAA Company Secretary, Janice Crombie, is also Secretary of the Town Partnership and through our representation it is envisaged that a strong working relationship will be developed with the Town Partnership.

Saltburn Business Association

SCAA is also a member of the Saltburn Business Association and anticipates using this forum to engage with and support the Saltburn business community so that they too can benefit from the regeneration potential of this project. In particular this will come from the increase in tourism which the project will generate, as well as the provision of access to hardware that small business startups in the creative industries have difficulty affording.

Saltburn Artists Project

SCAA has an established relationship with the Saltburn Artists Project, whose base is located only a few hundred meters from The Works @ Marske Mill. Development of The Works @ Marske Mill will help to relieve the waiting list of artists seeking studio space at Saltburn Artists Projects, whilst providing the artists already located there with access to additional equipment to aid their work, as well as suitable and easily accessible exhibition space to put on larger exhibitions; in particular suitable space to hold sculpture exhibitions. The Works @ Marske Mill has been supported by a Registration of Interest from this body.

Voluntary Organisations

SCAA has spent the past forty years developing its relationships in and around Saltburn. We have extensive relationships with almost every voluntary organisation in Saltburn and the surrounding area. SCAA will fully leverage these relationships through the establishment of a new level of membership of the company specifically for these user groups; they are also being invited to participate actively in new sub-committees which have been established to increase user group involvement and the devolution of decision making into the wider community, thereby increasing the likelihood of success for The Works @ Marske Mill and SCAA.

The Hub, Redcar

The frequently asked questions provided by “this is Regeneration in Redcar and Cleveland” envisages,

[The Hub] has the potential to be part of a network of enterprise hubs, linking into local, sub regional and regional networks for creative and digital businesses.

SCAA envisages that The Works @ Marske Mill will evolve into one of this network of enterprise hubs, helping to ensure that Saltburn continues to develop as a centre for excellence for the arts and creative industries. We see The Works @ Marske Mill formally developing a synergetic relationship with “The Hub” and that by working together we can increase the likelihood of regeneration in Saltburn, Redcar and extend that regeneration into East Cleveland through an active outreach program which encourages the widest possible community participation.
